The Mountaineer Sky Ride is a chair lift ride that lifts you high above the animals’ exhibits so you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the entire zoo. It’s a great way to admire everything that the zoo has to offer without ever having to worry about your feet hurting! This chair lift ride is operational year-round, so long as the weather permits it to run. In our opinion, the best times to ride the Mountaineer Sky Ride are in the Spring and Fall months when the weather is not too hot, and not too cold!
2. Check Out the Evening Events
Unlike most zoos, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers unique evening events for kids and adults alike. Attend a holiday light event around the holidays, experience an electric safari, or attend an exclusive 21-and-up evening event. Either way, you’ll love being able to experience the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in a whole new light!
3. Feed the Budgies at the Budgie Buddies Aviary
Budgie Buddies is a walk-in aviary, and it’s full of hundreds of tiny, gentle birds. These birds are known as “budgies”, and they’re known for their gentle and sociable nature. Budgies are popular amongst the kiddos, but adults also take a liking to these adorable little birds! If you participate in the Budgie Buddies attraction, you’ll receive a cup of bird seeds so you can feed the budgies. You’ll be able to enjoy and up-close and personal view of these beautiful birds, and you can even pet them while you feed them!
